TRINITY CLUSTER PRAYER:
Spirit of God, thank you for calling us
to be part of this parish cluster on our journey together. Fill our
hearts with compassion and charity for one another. Challenge us to
share; within our parish cluster and beyond, the gifts and talents you
have given us. Deepen our relationship with you. Grant to each of us a
heart renewed. Amen.

ADVOCATE CENTER, NORTON -
We are
writing to ask for your help. The Advocate Center has a small closet
where we keep sheets, towels, and blankets to give to families. We
receive requests for these items several times a week. I am sue you are
aware how costly these items are to buy, and the families that we serve
are struggling just to have the basics. We provide services to families
in Wise County and Norton. These items are costly for low-income
families. If you need more information and would like to help please
call

ANNOUNCEMENTS
On the notepad provided on the altar, write any last minute directions,

only a few minutes after he arrives at Church for Mass and the beginning
of Mass. He appreciates your help.

Internet web site for the Office of Justice & Peace (OJP) has just
been updated. We have added many new resources as well as a
few design changes to ease navigation around our web site. There are
links to several new OJP resources for adult faith formation, campus
ministry, and youth ministry. You will also find a PDF version for
upcoming Just Faith Workshops with founder, Jack Jezreel.
BIRTHDAYS,
ANNIVERSARIES, GRADUATIONS Please let Fr.
Tim know during announcement time each week if you are celebrating your
birthday or wedding anniversary or graduation, so we can ask God's
blessing for you at Mass.
BISHOP'S APPEAL
is conducted each year to give all parishioners an opportunity to
respond to the needs of the ministries and programs of the wider Church
of Richmond. Gifts to this year's Appeal will be shared through grants
to benefit areas such as our diocesan rural missions and faith
communities. Sacred Heart Church, Big Stone Gap, has received one of
these grants to do planning for a built-up roof on the old part of the
church. We urge people considering their response to this Appeal to do
so as soon as possible so we can swiftly attain and perhaps exceed our
parish goal.
CATHOLIC
VIRGINIAN
Please read the interviews with Bishop Di Lorenzo in our bimonthly
diocesan Catholic newspaper, The Catholic Virginian.
CHILDREN'S LITURGY OF THE WORD
-
Our youngest
school aged children reflect together on the Sunday Gospel during the
10:00 A.M.
Mass at St.
Anthony's Catholic Church. The children come to the altar after the
opening prayer for a blessing, and then go to the parish hall until the
gift procession.

CLUSTER
YOUNG ADULT GROUP NEEDED Matthew Pinto,
in his book, Waking the Sleeping Giant: Effective Catholic Young
Adult Ministry, asks why dynamic young adult groups are needed.
"Our heart's deepest longing is for God and Truth. In this day and
age, too many hearts are preoccupied with the distractions of the
world. . We need to break through with the life-giving message of
Jesus. Young people need to spend less time in the world and more
time contemplating the things of God. Truth leads to sanity and
clear thinking. We need to bring people to a deeper love of the
Truth. "
Young people
are casualties in this cultural war. The casualties are increasing.
We need more spiritual paramedics.
Young adult
groups are these paramedics. A strong young adult group can relieve
some of the pressure young people face. This pressure includes the
pursuit of material success and sexual temptations.
A strong young
adult group offers Catholics an alternative to the lures of other
faiths, including some cults. Heaven's Gate is an example.
We've lost too
many young people due to poor catechesis. Young people need an
inviting place to hear the clear Catholic message.
Parishes need
to reach out to these groups with more expansive young adult
programs. Where is the future church going to be if the majority of
young people stop practicing their faith?

DIVINE MERCY PRAYER
Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless, and the treasury of compassion
inexhaustible, look kindly upon us, and increase your mercy in us, that
in difficult moments, we might nor despair, nor become despondent, but
with great confidence, submit ourselves to Your holy will, which is Love
and Mercy Itself. Amen.
DONATIONS
you make in a service at one of our Trinity
Cluster churches will be credited to your home parish unless you
indicate otherwise.
