Blessing and Prayers

Blessing for Daily Life

Before a Meal

Bless us, O Lord, and these your gifts,
which we are about to receive
from your bounty.
Through Christ our Lord.
Father of us all,
This meal is a sign of Your love for us
Bless us and bless our food,
And help us to give you glory each day
Through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Dear God: Thank you for preparing this table before us.

Thank you for the bounty of the earth, which nourishes our bodies.

Thank you for the abundance of your goodness, which sustains our lives, strengthening us to serve you more effectively.

Thank you for the hands that prepared this meal and for the joy of being able to share it.

For all we have received and all that is yet to come, God, we are thankful!

We are grateful!

We are fulfilled!

In Jesus Name!

After a Meal

We give thanks for all your benefits,
Almighty God, who lives and reigns forever.
May the souls of the faithful departed,
Through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

Bless This Day

This day is full of beauty and adventure, help me Lord to be fully alive to it all.
During this day, may I become a more thoughtful person, a more prayerful person, a more generous and kindly person.
Help me not to be turned in on myself but to be sensitive and helpful to others.
Let me do nothing today that will hurt anyone, but let me help at least a little,
to make life more pleasant for those I meet.
When night comes, may I look back on this day without regrets; and may nobody be unhappy because of anything I have said or done or failed to do.
Lord God, bless this day for me and all of us.
Make it a day in which we grow a little more like your Son, and gentle as Mary His Mother.

Blessing of a Child

Heavenly Father, lover of all, we praise you for giving us Jesus as our Savior:

He blessed the children, who came to Him, and welcomes those who come to Him now.

Look with love upon N. and protect him/her with Your love.

May he/she grow in wisdom and age and strength in Your presence and in the sight of all.

We ask this blessing, Father, through Your beloved Son, Christ our Lord.

Blessing of a Family

Blessed are You, eternal God,
King of the universe:
You have called us in Jesus to be Your beloved people,
living pure and blameless lives in Your sight.
Bless our family who ask for your grace.
Let your Spirit guide our words and deeds,
so that our light may shine before all
and lead all who know us to give You praise.
May our home be filled with the spirit of love,
with the obedience of faith,
and the strength of hope.
Make our lives happy in Your service,
and bring us in Your love to your eternal home.
Father all-holy,
we praise Your Name,
and ask this blessing on our family
through Christ our Lord.
Bless our home, Father,
and all who live here in peace:
may we all love you.

Blessing of a Parish Hall

All glory and praise are Yours, Lord God,

Creator of the universe and Father of all:

we thank You for calling us in Jesus

to be Your beloved people

and temples of Your Holy Spirit.

Remember the promises of the Lord Jesus

and listen to the prayer we offer in His Name.

Bless us in all our actions,

and bless this meeting place of Your people.

Help us to recognize Your presence among us,

fill us with Your joy,

and guide us at all times.

We give You praise and thanks, heavenly Father,

through Jesus Christ Your Son

in the love of Your Holy Spirit,

now and always and for ever.

Blessing for Healing

Bless me Lord, and look upon me with eyes of mercy, let your healing hand rest upon me, let your life-giving powers flow into every cell of my body and into the depths of my soul, cleansing, purifying, restoring me to wholeness and strength.

Blessing for the Day

Bless me, O Lord, and shine through me and be so in me that every person I come in contact with may feel your presence in my soul.

Good Morning God!
You are ushering in another day,
untouched and freshly new.
So here I am to ask you, God,
if You'll renew me too.

Forgive the many errors that I made yesterday
and let me try again dear
to walk closer in Your way.

But Lord, I am well aware,
I can't make it on my own.
So take my hand and hold it tight,
for I cannot walk alone.

Blessing for Those on Medication

Bless me Lord, and Gracious God, You have given us many healing remedies that are a benefit to us when we are sick. Through the miraculous intercession of St. Anthony, I ask Your blessing upon the medication I have been prescribed, so that I may experience healing, and be restored to full health in mind and body.
