"Mother
Magdalene's Prayer"
Grow then, Jesus-
Grow in Me
In my mind, my heart my imagination, my senses.
Grow by thy modesty thy purity, thy zeal, thy love.
Grow in me Lord-with thy grace, thy light, thy peace
Grow in spite of my resistance, my pride.
Grow into the fullness of the perfect man, as thou
didst grow
at Nazareth- before God and man for thy Father's Glory

During the month of October, 2003,
Sr. Julia Dennehy will be celebrating 70 Years of religious life.
A
native of Beara Peninsula, Ireland, Sr. Julia Dennehey was educated in
England. She earned her nursing credentials at Providence Hospital in St.
Helens, Lancashire. Then in London after studying with the Poor Servants of
the Mother of God, Sr. Julia completed her training. Sr. Julia's life-long
commitment to providing for the poor and underserved is not only an
indication of her dedication to the mission and vision of the Poor Servant
of the Mother of God, but also of her heart-felt love for the people of our
hospital and community.

In May 2002, Karl
Miller, former interim CEO at St. Mary's Hospital, initiated a charitable
fund as a tribute to Sr. Julia.
Sr. Julia's Fund for
Needy Children was established for the direct benefit of the children up to
the age of 16 who live in Wise County and the City of Norton.
Original
contributors to the fund included St. Mary's Hospital physicians, Sisters of
SMG, Karl & Edith Miller and personal friends of Sr. Julia. Each year, the
monies collected for the fund are invested and only the interest earned from
the funds is distributed. A Board of Trustees that include Anne Jacobe,
Chairperson, Sr. Julia Dennehy, Kathleen DePonte, M.D., George (Pedro)
Hunnicutt, Sr. Loretta O'Conner, and Roger Viers directs the Fund.
In the past year the
monies from the Fund have been distributed to assist sixteen children with
purchasing such items as shoes, pants, food, transportation, winter coats,
and school supplies.
Anyone interested in
donating to this worthwhile charity may send a tax-deductible contribution
